Alarm Clock Theatre Company's P. S. Page Me Later won a 2005
Elliot Norton Award in the category of Best Fringe Production. I musically
directed the show, wrote original incidental music, wrote a chunk of the show,
directed the band, played piano, and co-produced the extensive visual
presentation. So yeah, this one's going on the resume. I'm thrilled to take
some ownership of the show, but this was very much a collaborative produciton,
and major credit should go to Sally Dennis, the director of the show, as well
as all the other Alarm Clock board members, who were a fundamental part of the
show's success. It was an incredible pleasure to show up for performances
knowing I was about to emabrk on exactly that which I hoped to do in music
and theatre. I am left only to hope that such an opportunity will come again.

I'm sick and sore, but I MADE IT! My time in the Boston Marathon
was 4 hours, 38 minutes - not too shabby for running 26 miles with a sore
troat. I have yet to even begin to deal with the experience, but it was a
heck of a day.
In other news, Summer Villa's 2006 Boston 48 Hour Film Project entry Getting
Gary receives its debut at the Kendall Square Cinema on Wednesday,
April 19th. I'll see you there!
ALSO, Alarm Clock Theatre Company's Fall 2005 show P. S. Page Me Later,
which I co-wrote and musically directed, has been nominated for a 2005
Elliott Norton Award (the Boston version of the Tony awards) in the category
of Best Fringe Production. We got more fringe than a flapper dress!

P. S. Page Me Later - page it a hit!
The latest Alarm Clock Theatre Company production P. S. - Page Me Later was a giant success, considered amnog the best of the year by the Boston Herald. Thanks to all who
came out to see it during a busy holiday season. It was a blast conducting
Pat Healy and Dave Desimone from right out on stage. Pat's uke and Dave's
percussion genius really made the music fantastic, and that's only one part
of a show that had the variety and talent of five shows going all at once.
The writing, acting and direction were all beyond compare, and we've
managed to one-up ourselves with each production.
We hope to do that again this spring with Rosa, the winner of our
playwriting contest. Hit Alarm Clock Theatre's webbity for more information.
As for myself, I'm going to be completing the Duplex Cast Alubm, and maybe starting a new band. I'm dying to play out again.
Oh and also, the music page has been drastically abridged while all media content is moved to a new server. Thanks for listening, and please make yourself comfortable. We have much to discuss.

P. S. Page Me Later
It's just a little over 24 hours until the world-premier of the latest Alarm Clock Theatre Company production,
P. S. Page Me Later, scenes inspired by
FOUND Magazine. This is a very unique and different show,
directed by Sally Dennis, who starred as Suzanne in Duplex. The show also features other Alarm Clock alums
such as Brian Polak, Luke Dennis, and Dave Desimone, a great cast, and many pieces written by a spate of Boston-area
writers, songwriters and filmmakers. I musically directed, wrote one of the pieces,
and co-produced the video presentation that accompanies the action onstage. Tickets are now available at

DUPLEX tore the roof off!
My first-ever full-length musical finished its 3-week run at the Boston Center for the
Arts in mid-june, to packed houses and tremendous word-of-mouth. It was an amazing experience
and I really look forward to starting the next one. But first I am going to Seattle to
record the new Blue Tree album, and then come home and start laying down tracks for the
Duplex original cast album, which will be completed in early 2006. If you'd like me
to let you know when it's available, just shoot me an email and I'll keep you in the loop.
I've uploaded some pics of the production, which will give you a taste of what we laid down!
Here's what the press had to say about DUPLEX:
"Fernandez proves a competent composer, peppering his lyrics with Cole Porter-esque humor and working in a range of styles. Swinging from upbeat rock numbers to impassioned ballads to calypso to traditional Broadway, and well performed by a four-piece outfit, the score supplies the cast members with plenty of material to flex their vocal muscles"
- The Boston Phoenix
"Duplex is entertaining and intermittently fabulous"
- The Boston Globe
"Fernandez's dialogue rings true to the perilous experience of learning to live together as
intimate partners-and this is all the more impressive as the actors mostly sing
their plans, misunderstandings, arguments, and reconciliations. If only
musical theatre could always feel this authentic-as though the rhymes were
coincidental and the melody simply the characters' natural tones of voice... This masterful
production deserves a life that endures long after its brief run in Boston."
- The Harvard Post
"Peter Fernandez, who wrote book, music, and lyrics, delivers a poignant story of relationships --- what it takes for them to succeed, and what contributes to their dissolution --- with sensitivity and honesty. The music ranges from stylized Loesser-like tunes to terse, jazzy numbers. . . The cast delivered a mesmerizing evening for a very grateful audience. After hoots of applause at the curtain call, a second wave of spontaneous adulation erupted as the musicians came out from behind the curtain to make their way to the lobby."
- Theater Mirror
"For a musical, it didn't make me vomit, which can only be good"
- Brainsnap

Because of the huge workload of finishing up the book, lyrics and music of
a full-length theater production, I was not able to complete Christmas Cookies
2004. But I can tell you next years' is gonna KICK ASS! I have posted a few
new musical tidbits in the last couple months - be sure to check out The
Hacks - that's some pretty weird stuff.

The first season of Alarm Clock Theatre Company at the Boston Center for the Arts is really coming along, and we
think you will be blown away, yes, BLOWN THE HELL AWAY by our fall production. I'm hurriedly trying to finish our spring
musical DUPLEX, and the latest edition of Christmas Cookies is well underway.
This fall also brings the release of two albums I've played on in the last year.
Chris & Meredith Thompson - LIVE
I had the great privilege to play bass and piano on this soulful album of spirituals and groovy folk songs
by the luminescent folk duo. They are better than ever - buy their albums today on FolkWeb.
Blue Tree - BEAUTIFUL SHADOW
"This Britpop influenced Boston trio serves up melodic pop/rock on their new release 'Beautiful Shadow' with vocals reminiscent of Brian Ferry from lead singer and principle songwriter Lawson Hancock." - CDBABY
This record is getting heavy rotation in Alaska and Delaware. Lawson is really fun to work with and gave us all free
rein to do any damn thing we pleased on it, so I did a lot of bass and piano all over the place.
Thank you for supporting local music!!!

Team SUMMER VILLA wins Top 10 Best of Boston for "Sweeter By Far" at the 48 Hour Film Festival!!
Last month, April 2-4, I participated in a crazy competition called the 48 Hour Film
Festival, wherein teams of likeminded, sleep-deprived creative types write and
direct an entire 4-8 minute short film in 48 consecutive hours. We managed to submit our
offering, at 7 minutes 59 seconds, within 15 minutes of the deadline. It was an incredible
experience.
Our film has won 2 awards! First, we won the Audience Award for the night ours was shown,
April 14 at the Somerville Theater, which put us in the Top 10 Best of Boston for 2004!!
Additionally, we won the award for Best Original Soundtrack, by yours truly in a
tremendous collaboration with Sara Adelman, Pat Healy and Marty Johnson. Hooray, us!!!
I hope to very soon be able to present to you the web public a QuickTime version of our
award-winning short film Sweeter by Far. I will definitely be posting the soundtrack
for download in the coming weeks.
For more information about the 48 Hour Film Festival, and a list of the other winners,
slap your mouse on this bad boy.
Special thanks to MARK POUTENIS for contributing his amazing artistic
skills to these very merciful renderings of yours truly. Check out his
work online at ThinkingApeBlues.com.
Special thanks as well to TJ Connelly and his science at Thirteen.net for their excellent web hosting services.
And another special thanks for everyone who's contributed to, participated in, and provided
guidance and inspiration for the pile of work herein. I know that's a lot of you but a
one-by-one shoutout will eat up a lot of bandwidth better used for the TALENTS of the said
list of geniuses. Suffice it to say I appreciate you all so much and what you've given me by
being part of my life.
THANK YOU!
xoxo
